Roadtrip

I’m putting my stuff together in preparation for a trip down to Portland this weekend.  I’ll spend a couple of days with some old friends, groovin’ to the beat at the 22nd annual Mt. Hood Jazz Festival.

To get there and back, I’m hopping aboard what is still (but for how long?) America’s national passenger railroad.  The Amtrak Cascades is reputedly a well-run, efficient, pleasant, punctual route.  Knowing how backed up and frustrating I-5 can get between here and Oregon, I’m looking forward to letting the engineer and his or her crew do the driving.

Obviously, I won’t be blogging over the weekend.  I hope to return with the week’s necrology report (if I can keep up with this event-filled week, that is), but it’s doubtful that I can accomplish any such thing by Sunday night.
