What's old is new again
Way back when, by which I mean 2003 and part of 2004, a semi-regular feature here at Peace Tree was a series of necrologies. I suppose I stopped writing those capsule summaries of interesting individuals who had died during the preceding week for at least a couple of reasons—because presidential electoral politics became so monstrously important and so involving in 2004, and simply because I wasn’t blogging on any topics all that often.
In January 2004, I even wrote a pair of entries summarizing interesting passings during the entire preceding year. That’s a “tradition” I intend to revive. Starting from the year-end listings we’ll see in this Sunday’s Seattle Times, as well as the annual remembrance on CBS Sunday Morning, I expect to begin my fourth year of blogging with a super-necrology.
While we’re on the subject of year-end reviews, I highly recommend Dan Kirkdorffer’s combined self-examination of his own efforts plus a nice look at the political year 2005 in WA at On the Road to 2008. Michael Hood, still tuning into talk radio so the rest of us don’t have to, sums up Blatherwatch 2005. And perhaps Darryl at Hominid Views will update his Meta-Year-in-Review to mention my necrologies (once I actually write them, that is).
