Turning the calendar
Wow, I almost missed it.
There are still a few minutes left of January 2, so it’s still appropriate to wish myself and my blog a happy blogiversary. Peace Tree Farm turns four years old today.
For easy reference, here’s a link to PTF’s very first post, titled Opening Day. In all honesty, I can’t say that the vision I articulated in January 2003 has been fulfilled. What little I’ve said here has been almost entirely about politics in Washington, the nation, and the world. Of the other potential topics I mentioned, music probably comes in a very distant second.
Looking ahead, I don’t see much change in the focus hereabouts. I always tell myself I’ll post more frequently, but it’s clear that I’ve decided that the best way of posting about nothing is posting nothing. Rare is the subject that strikes a chord so strongly that I believe what I might observe about it is more worthy than what’s already been said. It is just about always the case that whatever I might say has already been said by someone(s) else, in a manner far more elegant and reasoned than I could. I simply don’t have the ego to demand that my voice be heard on all such issues.
It’s been said that Peace Tree Farm may be the longest-running liberal political blog in Washington, though David Neiwert’s vastly more important, infinitely more influential, and far more widely read Orcinus debuted at just about the same time. In any case, I’m still here after four years, still posting every so often, and on rare occasions even posting something that a few people might find interesting or valuable.
And I expect to still be here into the foreseeable future.
